Request an account

The Claude Enterprise request form is currently unavailable. The updated form will be posted here soon.

When submitting a request, you’ll need to provide a Workday driver worktag. For more details about driver worktags, visit the Worktags and Reports navigation page.

After your account has been provisioned, use your UMD account to access the UMD Claude Enterprise Organization.

If you have multiple organizations, select the "University of Maryland - College Park.".

Provisioning

After the request and required approvals are complete, DIT's Software Licensing team will provision the license.

If your request was approved but you cannot access Claude, contact dit-ais@umd.edu.

Billing and subscription tiers

UMD currently offers two Claude Enterprise subscription tiers:

Both tiers provide access to the same Claude Enterprise features, including Claude, Projects, Cowork, and Claude Code. Premium provides approximately five times the usage of Standard. Premium does not add separate product features.

Usage limits

Claude usage is not measured as a fixed token allowance. Usage depends on the model, conversation length, complexity, effort level, tools used, and Claude Code activity. Usage across Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code counts toward the same usage limit.

For more information, see Anthropic's How do usage and length limits work?

Existing Claude users

The request form is currently open to new Claude users joining with a @umd.edu email address. It is also available to users with an active @umd.edu email address who currently use a personal Claude Free, Pro, or Max account, or a Claude Team or Enterprise account.

Departmental team accounts for BMGT, ENGR, and GEOG are handled separately. Existing users associated with those accounts should contact:

The current migration process does not support exporting and importing chats from existing accounts into UMD Enterprise accounts. Plan your migration accordingly before requesting or accepting access.

Migration of Claude Console organizations is outside the scope of the current UMD Enterprise account. This article will be updated when that migration becomes available.

Use Claude responsibly

Claude can help draft, summarize, analyze, brainstorm, and work through complex tasks. Use Claude as a working partner, not as a final authority.

Data security and classification

Before entering UMD information into Claude, review the UMD Data Classification guidance.

Anthropic states that commercial customer content is not used to train its models by default. UMD users must still follow UMD requirements and any applicable workspace configuration. See Anthropic’s commercial data guidance.

Review AI-generated output

Claude output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for the intended use. Before relying on output:
