Additional configuration for macOS GlobalProtect VPN

For personal macOS computers not centrally managed by the university, run the following commands to add a required configuration preference to your laptop. This is required for GlobalProtect VPN to work correctly on macOS laptops with IPv6 networking capability.

  1. Open the Terminal application.
  2. Copy, paste, and run the following command to add the plist:

sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :'Palo Alto Networks':GlobalProtect:Settings:split-tunnel-keep-tunnel-ipv6 string yes" /Library/Preferences/com.paloaltonetworks.GlobalProtect.settings.plist

  3. Copy, paste, and run this command:

    grep ipv6 /Library/Preferences/com.paloaltonetworks.GlobalProtect.settings.plist

  4. Confirm this is part of the output:

    <key>split-tunnel-keep-tunnel-ipv6</key>

  5. Disconnect and reconnect to GlobalProtect VPN if it is currently active.
