TerpAI Artifacts

Table of contents

Note: Artifacts are files or objects automatically generated by AI models in TerpAI® whenever code is produced in response to a user request. These can include rendered documents, code snippets, diagrams, and other outputs. Artifact previews allow immediate review and interaction with results, making it straightforward to assess what was created, request changes, download or share the results as needed. This keeps AI interaction results accessible, manageable, and organized.

Create an artifact

The way to create an artifact is to ask for it in the prompt. For example: "Create an interactive HTML greeting card," "Generate a diagram of the typical e-commerce process," or "Create a PDF document with all the tasks that I completed last week based on the documents in my SharePoint folder named Tasks." nebulaONE® will analyze the prompt and create the artifact if needed.

In nebulaONE, multiple artifact types can be generated, including:

Artifacts can be downloaded in the same formats for further use or sharing.

How artifacts work in nebulaONE

The Artifact Panel is the primary interface for viewing and interacting with artifacts. When an artifact is generated, it is displayed as a tile in the main conversation body as well as the dedicated panel. The panel serves as the interface for viewing the content of the artifact. What is shown in the panel depends on the artifact type:

Artifact tiles in the main conversation body display icons that reflect the output type at a glance, with distinct icons for documents, code files, and unknown formats, making it easier to identify artifacts as the list grows.

Versioning and organization

Each time the user requests a change, nebulaONE creates a new version of the artifact. Versions are listed in a dropdown on the Artifact Panel, allowing review of previous outputs and tracking of changes throughout a conversation. This provides a reliable record of AI interactions and makes it straightforward to reference or reuse prior artifacts.

Artifacts navigation item

The Artifacts item in the application navigation menu provides a dedicated place to find and open artifacts that were either created by the signed-in user or created and shared by someone else and viewed by the signed-in user. Rather than scrolling back through past conversations to locate a specific output, navigate directly to the Artifacts page to browse everything in one centralized view.

The images below illustrate a sample use case. An interactive notecard study tool was generated earlier in a conversation as a quiz preparation aid covering Sumer's early major cities. Navigating to the Artifacts page and selecting that artifact tile opens it immediately, returning directly to the interactive tool exactly as it was left — no need to scroll back through the conversation to find it.

  1. Artifacts — The Artifacts item in the left navigation sidebar. Select it at any time to open the Artifacts page and browse all created or shared artifacts.
  2. My Artifacts — Displays all artifacts generated by the signed-in user. Select any tile to open that artifact directly and pick up where the work left off.
  3. Shared With Me — Displays artifacts that other users have shared and the signed-in user has viewed. Select any tile to view the shared artifact in a dedicated page.
    ""

The Artifacts page separates My Artifacts from shared artifacts so the right item can be located quickly by context. As the artifact collection grows, the dedicated navigation item keeps everything accessible and organized in a single, predictable location.

Use the Artifact Panel

The Artifact Panel is the main workspace for interacting with artifacts in nebulaONE. Before viewing the demonstration video in the next section, it is helpful to understand the tools available in this panel. The Artifact Panel allows review, management, and organization of the outputs generated by AI models. The functions available in the panel are labeled in the screenshot and described below:

  1. View Code: Display the artifact code or text. This function is not available for .pdf or .docx artifact types.
  2. Preview Artifact: See a live preview of the artifact to understand its appearance. This function is only available for .html and diagram artifact types.
  3. Mobile Device View: Check display for mobile devices. This function is only available for .html and diagram artifact types.
  4. Desktop Device View: Check display for desktop devices. This function is only available for .html and diagram artifact types.
  5. Download: Save the artifact as a local file.
  6. View More: View options to rename, share, or reload the artifact to reset it to its initial preview state. Applies to .html artifact types only.
  7. Full Screen: Expand the Artifact Panel for easier viewing.
  8. Exit Panel: Close the Artifact Panel when finished.
    ""
  9. Version History: Select and view different iterations of the artifact.
  10. Copy: Copy the artifact's code to the clipboard.
  11. Search: Search the artifact's source code.
    ""

Note: When the Artifact Panel opens, the left-hand navigation menu closes automatically to provide more space to review the artifact.

Share artifacts

Artifacts can be shared with other authenticated members of a nebulaONE instance directly from the Artifact Panel. Sharing is designed to be simple and secure, with controls that determine exactly how and for how long an artifact is accessible.

""

Share an artifact

  1. Make the artifact public. By default, all artifacts are set to private. To share an artifact, toggle it from private to public. This generates a unique, stable share link.
  2. Set link expiration. Choose how long the link remains active. Expiration options include 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or 180 days.
  3. Control code visibility. Decide whether recipients can view the source code alongside the artifact preview, or limit them to the preview only.
  4. Send the link. Share the generated link with any authenticated member of the nebulaONE instance.

What recipients can do

Recipients who open a shared artifact link can view the artifact preview and, if enabled by the sharer, the source code. They can also use "Copy and Make Your Own" to copy the artifact into their own workspace and build on it independently. This allows collaborators to use existing work as a starting point without modifying the original.

Comment and react on shared artifacts

When an artifact is shared, recipients can leave feedback directly on the shared artifact page without altering the original. Two forms of feedback are available: reactions (a lightweight emoji response) and comments (threaded text discussion). Both are available to any authenticated member of the nebulaONE® instance who has the share link.

Commenting is controlled by the sharer. The Allow comments option in the Share Artifact dialog determines whether the comments panel appears for recipients.

Enable comments and generate the share link

Comment settings are configured in the same Share Artifact dialog used to generate the share link. The share URL is not created until settings are saved, so the sequence matters:

  1. Open the Share Artifact dialog. From the Artifact Panel, select View More and then Share.
  2. Enable Shared Access. Under Privacy, toggle Shared Access on. Any authenticated user with the link can then view the artifact. Until settings are saved, the dialog displays No share link yet — Save settings to generate your share URL.
  3. Confirm Allow comments. Under Additional Options, select the Allow comments checkbox to let viewers comment on the artifact.
  4. Set code visibility. Optionally select Show code view to allow viewers to see the source code alongside the preview.
  5. Select Save Settings. This generates the share URL and reveals the Share URL and Link Expiration controls.
  6. Set link expiration. Choose how long the link remains active. The default is 180 days.
  7. Copy and send the link. Select Copy to copy the URL, or Open preview to view the shared page as a recipient sees it. Send the link to any authenticated member of the instance.

Any subsequent change to these settings is saved with Update Settings rather than Save Settings.

""

Note:
The Link Expiration control does not appear until the share URL has been generated. If the expiration period is changed later, the new period takes effect from the moment settings are saved — it is not measured from the date the artifact was originally shared.

React to a shared artifact

A reaction bar appears in the upper-right corner of the shared artifact page, above the artifact preview. Three reactions are available, each displaying a running count:

Select a reaction to apply it; the active reaction is visually highlighted. Reactions behave as follows:

Add, edit, and reply to comments

When commenting is enabled, a Comments panel appears along the right side of the shared artifact page with a heading that displays the current comment count. To add a comment, enter text in the Add a comment… field and select Comment. Select Cancel to discard the draft. A live character counter is displayed beneath the field.

Each comment displays the author, the date posted, and the comment text. Action icons appear on the comment when the signed-in user has permission to use them:

User permissions for actions
Action Who can use it
Edit The author of the comment or reply. Available on the user’s own content only.
Delete The author of the comment or reply, and the artifact owner. The artifact owner can delete any comment or reply on their artifact. A confirmation dialog appears before deletion completes.
Reply Any user who can view and comment on the artifact, including on their own comments.

Actions the signed-in user cannot perform are hidden rather than shown in a disabled state. As a result, a comment written by someone else displays only the Reply icon, while the user’s own comment displays Edit, Delete, and Reply.

The screenshot below shows the shared artifact page for the Interactive Mesopotamian Note Cards artifact. The numbered callouts identify the two key interaction areas described above:
""

  1. Reaction bar — Located in the upper-right corner of the shared artifact page. Displays the Like, Fire, and Thinking reactions with their current counts. Select a reaction to apply it; select it again to remove it. Only one reaction per user is permitted at a time.
  2. Comment action icons — Appear on a comment when the signed-in user has permission to use them. The user’s own comment displays Edit, Delete, and Reply. A comment written by another user displays Reply only. Actions the signed-in user cannot perform are hidden rather than disabled.

Comment structure and limits

Comment structure and limits
Item Detail
Character limit 1,000 characters per comment or reply. A live counter displays the current count against the limit.
Comment limit 150 comments per artifact. Once reached, the comment field is replaced with a message indicating no further comments are allowed.
Reply limit 150 replies.
Threading depth Two levels. A comment can receive multiple replies from one or more users, but a reply cannot itself be replied to.
Who can participate Authenticated members of the nebulaONE instance only. Anonymous and unauthenticated commenting is not supported.

Note: Comments are preserved if commenting is later turned off. Clearing the Allow comments checkbox hides the comments panel from recipients but does not delete existing comments — re-selecting the option restores the panel with all prior comments intact.

Note: Comments and reactions are features of the shared artifact page. They are not currently surfaced in the Artifact Panel within the original conversation, and the artifact owner does not receive a notification when a comment or reaction is added. Owners should revisit the shared artifact page to check for new feedback.
