General Purpose Classrooms are designed to provide instructors with the ability to capture classroom activities by recording the material displayed or written within the classroom and easily upload it into your course content in ELMS-Canvas.
First, verify the features that are available in your classroom by visiting the Classroom Scheduling System. You can search by building name and/or room number to find your classroom and view a comprehensive list of features available in that space. If you select the room, you may also see images of the class space and other useful details to help prepare you for instruction.
Handwritten and/or digital content presented in the classroom may be recorded using Zoom or Panopto. When using easy mode on the AV touch panel, the room camera and classroom PC will be automatically routed to Panopto, and the room camera will be automatically routed to Zoom. For more information, view the guide for AV Touch Panels for more detailed instructions on how to use the AV touch panel to send sources to Zoom/Panopto.
The lectern touchscreen monitor allows instructors to operate the classroom PC by touch. You may write, draw, and/or annotate with software (Zoom, Google apps, Microsoft apps, Adobe apps, etc.) on the classroom computer. Record annotations and writing using Zoom or Panopto from the classroom computer or save the annotations directly into the software where the annotations were made (Zoom, Google, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.). The classroom computer is automatically routed to the Panopto software on the classroom computer. To capture the classroom computer on Zoom, open a Zoom meeting and use the Share feature.
Record the material displayed by the document camera with a Zoom meeting or Panopto recording. To record the document camera in Panopto on the classroom computer, open the Panopto software and click on the Video, and choose the document camera as the video source. To record the document camera in Zoom on the classroom computer, open a Zoom meeting and click on the ^ caret on the Video button in the Zoom meeting task bar, then choose Document Camera under Select a Camera.
First, preview the camera by opening the Panopto or Zoom software or by using Advanced Mode on the AV touch panel to send the Camera source to the Projector or Lectern Monitor destination. Click on the camera icon on top of the AV touch panel to view and adjust the camera settings. Often in lecture halls, the AV touch panel will have a Chalkboard or Whiteboard preset. Then record the camera in Zoom or Panopto.
A wireless device may be shared to the classroom AV system wirelessly by following the wireless sharing article. Additionally, a tablet can be shared to the classroom AV system by plugging it into the provided HDMI/VGA cable connection on the classroom lectern. Launch a Zoom meeting or a Panopto recording on the wireless device to record the content from the wireless device. Alternatively, you may save the content directly into the software where you annotated (Zoom, Google, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.).

Instructors may use the lectern's touch screen monitor to navigate and annotate digital course content from the classroom computer. The touch screen monitor is connected to the classroom computer. Users can touch the screen to click on items for basic navigation or move items around. Additionally, the monitor can be used with any software that has built-in annotation, such as Zoom, Google Apps, Microsoft apps, Adobe apps, and more.
TIP: Using this tool at the instructor station allows you to face the audience while interacting with the course content. Bring your generic stylus pen, or use your finger, and angle the monitor for optimal writing comfort.

Instructors may use the document camera to display handwritten content, small demo equipment, or printed course content. The document cameras allow instructors to display content from the lectern to the large classroom displays, allowing the audience to easily view the material. Using this tool at the instructor station allows the instructor to face the audience while displaying course material. In many cases, a dry-erase surface is available underneath the document camera.
TIP: Use the document camera to display physical specimens, small hardware, or pieces of art.
