Accessing Gradescope Content After Update to Version 1.3

We released Gradescope LTI 1.3 in ELMS-Canvas on January 2, 2025. The older version LTI 1.0 is approaching end-of-life support by the vendor. Both LTI 1.0 and LTI 1.3 were available on ELMS-Canvas for the Spring 2025 semester.

Starting with the Summer 2025 term, only Gradescope LTI 1.3 will be available in ELMS-Canvas, and you will no longer be able to access Gradescope via the standard ELMS-Canvas navigation. Instead, select Assignments from the course navigation panel and then select the more options menu (vertical ellipsis located to the right of the New Assignment button).

In the drop-down menu, select Gradescope LTI 1.3.

The warning message alerting that a course has not been created may be ignored:

To link to the previous course, select An existing Gradescope course, and then either select the course from the drop-down, or start typing in that field to narrow the choices, then select Link Course:

""

Once you’ve linked to a course, you can then link to individual assignments in the course. Select An existing Gradescope assignment, then select from the drop-down field. As before, you can type into the field to get a match quicker. Once you find the assignment, select the Link Assignment button:

That assignment will now show up under Assignments in the current course.

You can also choose to link the previous content to a new assignment. To do this, select A new Gradescope assignment.
