Connect to eduroam on Android


 

Already on campus?

If you are already on campus, you will need access to the internet to connect to eduroam. You can run SecureW2 by connecting to the umd-guest wireless network from the list of detected wireless networks. You may also consider using your phone's cellular data to connect that device or set up a personal hotspot to connect on computers and tablets.

If you are starting with these instructions, click this link to begin connecting to campus internet and click the red Sign In button if prompted.

  1. Click the Download button to open SecureW2 in the Google Play store.

  2. Click the Install button.

  3. Click the Open button.

  4. Sign in using the Central Authentication Service (CAS) using your UMD credentials.
  5. Click the Next button at the bottom of this screen.

    NOTE: You may be asked to sign into CAS a second time.
  6. Click the Next button at the bottom of this screen on this notification as well.

  7. On the Save this network? notification, click save at the bottom right.

  8. If you're on campus, click the Go to Wi-Fi Settings button.
    NOTE: If you're not on campus you will have to connect to eduroam upon arrival by opening your device's Settings, tapping Network & internet then Internet. Tap eduroam.

  9. Confirm you're connected to eduroam. If you aren't automatically connected to eduroam, tap the eduroam network to connect.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network when on campus

Following completion of the SecureW2 joining process, you will be able to connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network once on campus with your device. If you have issues with the SecureW2 process or connecting to the eduroam Wi-Fi network, contact the Service Desk for additional support.

  1. Open your device's Settings.
  2. Tap Network & internet.
  3. Tap Internet.
  4. Tap eduroam from the listed networks.
