Connect to eduroam and Wired Network on Windows

Already on campus?

If you are already on campus, you will need access to the internet to connect to eduroam. You can run SecureW2 by connecting to the umd-guest wireless network from the list of detected wireless networks. You may also consider using your phone's cellular data to connect that device or set up a personal hotspot to connect on computers and tablets.

Click the Install Now button to download the SecureW2 file. Browsers may have different default setting for downloading and saving files after clicking the Install Now button.

NOTE: Chrome, Firefox, and Edge will automatically download the SecureW2 file in your computer's Downloads folder without asking to select a location.

Did this article pop-up during setup?

If you were directed here during the connection process, continue with the instructions below.

  1. Run the SecureW2 file from your computer's Downloads folder by double clicking on the file or right-clicking on the file and clicking Open.
  2. An admin login window will open to confirm that you want to run the SecureW2 file. Enter your computer's admin username and password.
  3. Click Yes.
  4. A new window will open. Click Next.

  5. This will open the UMD Central Authentication Service (CAS) login page in your browser. Enter your Directory ID and Passphrase.
  6. Click Log In.
  7. Wait for the joining process to complete, then click Done.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network on campus

Following completion of the SecureW2 joining process, you will be able to connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network on campus with your Windows device. If you have issues with the SecureW2 process or connecting to the eduroam Wi-Fi network, contact the Service Desk for additional support.

  1. Click on the settings button on the bottom right corner of the taskbar.

  2. Click the arrow next to the Wi-Fi symbol.

  3. Select eduroam from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  4. Click Connect.
