Catchbox Throwable Microphones are foam covered cube shaped microphones that are added to rooms with existing wireless microphone systems. Using a Catchbox encourages audience participation by creating an active learning environment and breaking the communication barriers that exist in classrooms. A Catchbox can also improve the audio quality for class recording conducted with Zoom and Panopto, and serve as an accommodation device by augmenting participant voices for those using assistive listening devices.
NOTE: You can search for classrooms with Catchbox Wireless Microphones already installed by searching for the Microphone Wireless Throwable feature in the 25Live course scheduling software.
Catchbox usage
Where installed, the Catchbox and the charging base will be placed onto the Teacher Lectern.
- Pick up the Catchbox to activate and speak into the round top to be heard through the room speakers
- Pass or throw the Catchbox as needed.
- For safety, make sure that the person you throw the Catchbox to is aware that something will be thrown to them and that they can see the object coming
- After usage, place the Catchbox in the center of the square charging base, look for the lights on the front to stop chasing and become a charging meter. Once the charging meter appears, the connection to the base is secure and the microphone will mute as well as charge
How to request a Catchbox
If you want a Catchbox Throwable Microphone in a General Purpose Classroom that does not currently have one, please fill out the Classroom Technology Request Form. The classroom must have a wireless microphone system in place already. Approval is subject to audio system design and equipment availability.
