The Division of Information Technology is adding a network feature enhancement, named AirGroups, that will allow you to create your own personal network where your IoT (Internet of Things) devices will be able to communicate with each other and be shared with others, if you so choose.  This will also allow you to use your smartphone to communicate with your registered devices, as long as it is connected to EDUROAM and AirGroups is enabled for your IOT devices.

Register your IoT device

1. Login to the mydevices.umd.edu portal.
   
2. From the left navigation menu, select Devices -> Create Device. Fill out the required information marked with an asterisk (*), then click Create.

   

3. Select Manage Devices from the left navigation menu, then click on the device you want to modify and select Edit.

   

4. Click on Enable Airgroup and select your options, Personal or Shared. Most will be selecting Personal.
   • Personal will share this device with other devices that you have enabled for Personal AirGroup sharing.
   • Shared will share this device with others. If you choose this option, enter the @umd.edu email addresses of those that you would like to share your device with, separating each entry with a comma.
     NOTE:  If you click Shared and do not enter an email address, you will share that device with everyone (you most likely do not want to do this).
5. Click on Update Device when you have finished selecting your options.
