Manage enrollments in non-term based organization spaces

For non-term-based spaces (e.g., organization spaces) the course owner can enroll members from within the course. For term-based spaces please see Manage Participants in ELMS-Canvas Spaces

Adding participants in non-term based organization spaces

Participant enrollments for non-term based course spaces, also called Organization spaces (for instance, master, test, or non-credit course spaces), can be managed by those with an instructor or TA role from within the course space. To add participants and identify the roles they should have in the organization space, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the People link in the course navigation menu.
  2. Click on the +People (Add People) icon.
  3. Click on either the Login ID or UID radio button. In the required field type either the University Directory ID or UID of an individual to enroll in the space.
  4. Select a role for the participant from the Role menu. You can add multiple individuals at one time in the required field, as long as all individuals are to have the same role in the space. Separate participant identifiers with a comma or place each participant id on a separate line. Click on the Next button.

Add people screen with an arrow pointed at roles

  5. Click the Add Users button. Repeat the process if you have additional participants to add in different roles.

When an enrollment is manually added to the course, Canvas generates a course invitation once the course is published. The user must accept the course invitation to participate in the course. Until the user accepts the course invitation, the user's status will display as pending.
