Pages not loading while connected to Global Protect


Websites intermittently timeout or fail to load.


  • Global Protect version 5.2.9 or higher.
  • Windows operating system.
  • Connected to Global Protect VPN.
  • Physically on campus and connected to the campus network.


  1. Select the Windows Start button at the bottom left.
  2. Type in Command Prompt.
  3. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  4. Enter command:
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect\Settings" /v DNSBlockMethod /t REG_DWORD /d 2
  5. Restart your computer.
