Not receiving emails from ELMS-Canvas


I am not receiving messages sent within ELMS-Canvas. My User Profile lists my email address but there's an exclamation mark with a message Canvas was unable to send email to this address. Please ensure the address is correct to continue receiving email from Canvas.




Contact the IT Service Desk at for assistance resolving this error. A representative will contact Canvas Support to resolve the issue.


Instructure, Canvas's parent company, blocks an email address if they receive a bounce back message when sending a notification to the email address. A bounce back occurs when an email is suspended, typically due to a leave of absence or a period of non-teaching.
