Mozilla Thunderbird
based on your operating system.
Open the downloaded file,
Thunderbird Setup 148.0.exe
(Windows) or
Thunderbird 148.0.dmg
(Mac).
For Windows users
Click
Run
and then
Yes
in the pop-ups that appear to allow the program to begin the installation.
Proceed with following the steps in the Mozilla Thunderbird Setup Wizard (default settings should work fine).
For Mac users
Drag the Thunderbird icon into the Applications folder.
Open the Applications folder, double-click the Thunderbird icon, and click
Open
.

Log in to existing email account
Make sure that
IMAP is enabled
for your personal email account.
Windows: If you do not see the menu bar press the
alt
key to view the menu bar.
Mac: The menu bar should automatically appear. Open
Thunderbird
.
From the menu, navigate to
File - > New -> Existing Mail Account
.
Enter
your name
and
email address
, then click
Continue
.
Two configuration options will show. Select the
IMAP
option.
Click
Done
.
You will be prompted to sign in with your
Google Account
. Enter your
email
. Click
Next.
Log in with your password.
Click
Allow
to give Mozilla Thunderbird email access to your Google account.
Click
Finish
to start using Thunderbird.

Read without logging in to email account
Move the
*.mbox
file to a folder on your computer.
From the
Account Setup
tab, enter a
name
and
email address
. Leave the password blank, then click
Configure manually
.
Do not make any changes to the configuration. Click
Advanced config
.
Click
Ok
to confirm the Advanced configuration.
Close the
Account Settings
tab. Open the
Inbox
tab.
Click
once
to set the focus on
Local Folders
.
