Webex People Insights


The Webex feature People Insights displays a brief profile of a participant during an open Webex Meeting. You can edit or hide your information that is available to other participants. You will need the desktop version of Webex to use this feature. 

Note: This feature may not provide complete information when using a Cisco Collaboration Meeting Room (CMR) enabled meeting.

Control the information available about you

You can upload a photo, keep your job title updated, and more. You can also decide to hide this information instead.

  1. Open the desktop version of Webex
  2. Choose to connect using umd.webex.com by selecting the circle next to this option.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Complete the prompted multi-factor authentication.
  5. Click Start Meeting to open your personal room.
  6. In the Participants tab, click the View my public profile icon to the right of your name.
  7. Click the Edit or Hide button to receive an email from Webex containing a link to edit or hide your information.
  8. Open the Webex email and follow the link provided.
  9. From this screen, you can enter information, upload a photo, choose specific sections to hide, or hide everything.
    • Click the Hide everything button to conceal your information.
  10. After completing the form to your satisfaction, click save.

View the profiles of people outside of the University of Maryland organization

Perform the following steps from a live meeting using the desktop version of Webex.

  1. Open the Participants list. 
  2. Click the contact card icon next to an attendee's name.
  3. You can also find the icon by hovering over their video thumbnail

Note: If no information is available, the attendee has hidden their information, or they joined using an unsupported client, the icon will not be displayed.

View the profiles of the University of Maryland employees

Perform the following steps from a live meeting using the desktop version of Webex.

  1. Open the Participants list. 
  2. Click the contact card icon next to an attendee's name.
  3. You can also find the icon by hovering over their video thumbnail
  4. Look for additional information about University of Maryland employees.
    • Title.
    • Contact info.
    • Reporting structure.
