Secure Data with Google Shared Drives Sharing Settings


Google Shared Drives lets you secure sensitive data with Sharing settings. These sharing settings specify whether files can be:

To modify your Shared Drive Sharing settings, you must have a UMD Google account and full access to the appropriate Shared Drive.

Follow the steps below to:

Change how a single file can be shared

  1. Log into your UMD Google Drive.
  2. Click Shared Drives.
  3. Click the file you want to change.
  4. Click Share or the Share icon to open the Share window.
  5. Click Who has access.
  6. Click Restrict download, print, & copy actions on this file for commenters and viewers.
  7. Click Done.

Change how your Shared Drive files can be shared

  1. Log into your UMD Google Drive.
  2. Click Shared Drives.
  3. If you manage multiple Shared Drives, double click the name of the appropriate Shared Drive.
  4. Your selected Shared Drive will open. Click the name of your Shared Drive and select Shared Drive settings from the drop down that opens.
