First-time using Webex? Go to WebEx and use your UMD credentials to activate your Webex account. Your Webex account will be synced to your ELMS-Canvas account during this process, allowing you to login to ELMS-Canvas and use Webex though the ELMS-Canvas integration.
Webex is integrated with ELMS-Canvas and can be used to host classes, office hours, and other meetings. Additionally, a Webex link can be added to individual courses in ELMS-Canvas by going to the course's Settings menu, then dragging and dropping Webex into the course's Navigation tab. Questions about the Webex conferencing integration with ELMS-Canvas can be directed to email@example.com.
Webex provides four hosting centers with varying capabilities. The four hosting centers include:
The training center is the recommended solution for hosting classes. For office hours and other meetings, it is recommended that you use either the meeting center or a personal room. For more information, see Webex Centers and Participant Capacity.
Need to hold office hours or host a small meeting? Try setting up your Personal Room. To start, log into your Webex account, then click the Set Up Room link. You will be assigned a host PIN that can be changed at any time. Additionally, you can set your personal room preferences from the My Webex menu. Just click My Webex>Preferences>My Personal Room to change your preferences any time after you set up your personal room. For more information, see Webex Personal Rooms.
Personal room too personal for you? Use the Meeting Center instead. Like the Personal Room, the Meeting Center is designed to host meetings with a small number of participants. Get started using the meeting center with support from Webex Help Central.
Teaching a class remotely? The Training Center is the best option when you need to host a class or training session online. Not only can you use the training center to host classes and training sessions, you can set up breakout sessions and assign tests to get your students more engaged with the session. Want to broadcast a presentation online to a large audience? Use the Event Center. The Event Center is the best choice when you need to share a presentation to a wide audience. With a participant capacity of up to 1000 Webex Audio devices, 500 VoIP devices, and 500 teleconferencing devices, the Event Center helps you get your presentations to largest audience possible. For more information, visit Getting Started with Event Center and get support.
The Support Center provides remote technical support for most Webex technical issues. Webex support representatives can work with you remotely to assess and rectify issues that can affect your ability to use Webex. For more on the Support Center, visit Webex Help Central.
