Manually Restore Files Using Tivoli Storage Manager 6.2 for Windows


NOTE: This knowledge base entry is relevant for older versions of Tivoli Storage Manager that the Division of Information Technology (DivIT) will cease supporting in the near future. It has been maintained here temporarily as DivIT migrates data backup services to a new architecture. Navigate to the restore options

  1. Navigate to Start and select Programs, IBM Spectrum Protect, then click Backup-Archive GUI.
    • This will open up the Tivoli Storage Manager application window.

  2. Click on RESTORE. You will be presented with a RESTORE window.

  3. Restore the files. There are two restore options:
    1. Restore files from the latest backup set
      You may consider this type of restore in situations when you want data from the most recent backups. For example, Recovery of a crashed disk, for recovering and replacing a corrupted file.
      • Click VIEW in the Menu Bar and select Display active files only from the menu options.
      • Click YES in the Confirmation window.
    2. Restore files from backup set older than latest one
      You may consider this type of restore in situations when you want data from old backup sets.
      • Click on VIEW in the Menu Bar and select Display active/inactive Files from the menu options.
      • Click YES in the Confirmation window.
