Add Tasks to a File in Box

Box allows customers to add tasks to shared files with its Add Task feature. Tasks may be assigned to be completed by specific assignees on assigned due dates. To learn how to add tasks in Box, follow the steps listed below:

  1. From the File and Folder Navigator window, double click the title of the desired file and the Content Preview window will open.
  2. On the Content Preview window, scroll to the Comment section in the lower right-hand corner. Place your cursor in the Comment field and enter a comment.

    NOTE: Entering a comment is required when attempting to add a task to a file.

  3. Below the Comment field, select Add Task. The Assignees and Due Date fields will display. 
  4. In the Assignees field, enter the email address(es) of the Assignee(s) for the task.
  5. In the Due Date field, click the Calendar icon to use the Calendar widget to select a due date.
  6. Click Post.

    NOTE: Assignees will receive an email notification when a task has been assigned to them.

  7. The Task will be displayed in the Activity tab of the Content Preview window Sidebar. Assignees can update the status of a task from Activity Tab. To mark a task as complete or decline a task, Assignees must: 
    • Click the check mark icon to mark task as Complete.
    • Click the x icon Decline a task.
