Kuali Financial System (KFS) Online Tutorials and Training Manuals

The University of Maryland's Financial Records System (FRS) has been replaced by the Kuali Financial System (KFS). The KFS is a web-based service that enables University of Maryland staff to conduct a wide range of financial recordkeeping through its simple, accessible online forms known as eDocs, which have replaced a number of forms once available in the Electronic Forms System (ELF).

Kuali has provided a number of resources for University staff to use when becoming acquainted with the KFS. Two of the most valuable resources Kuali has made available are the KFS User Productivity Kit (UPK) Online Tutorials and the KFS Training Manuals.

The KFS UPK Online Tutorials consist of an extensive collection of multimedia tutorials that guide users through over 100 different processes and eDocs used in the KFS. All tutorials consist of an automated slideshow presentation that enable users to learn how to navigate the KFS and its eDocs at their own pace. Additionally, each tutorial contains a word document version of the tutorial that may be printed for easy reading.

Ten KFS Training Manuals are available, in PDF form, as training resources for new KFS users. These manuals cover a similar array of processes and eDocs as the KFS UPK Online Tutorials presented with concise series of directions in clear language. Currently, the KFS Training Manuals address such topics as KFS Basics, Chart of Accounts, Purchasing, Vendors and Voucher Disbursement, Financial Processing, and Capital Asset Management. A forthcoming volume will cover Labor Ledger Basics.

Both the KFS UPK Online Tutorials and the KFS Training Manual can be accessed by visiting the KFS homepage and following the steps listed below:
