What is the MVS system?

MVS or Production CICS runs on the IBM mainframe using the MVS operating system.  It is possible to log in up to 7 concurrent times.

MVS accounts are available to faculty and staff. Request a Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) account by completing theUM Account Request Form and obtaining a signature from your unit head. Scan and email the completed form to DIT-Production Control@acctreq@umd.edu.

Academic Resource System (ARS)

Academic Resource System (ARS) is one of the applications that runs on the MVS (Production CICS) System.

It is used to electronically execute all aspects of the academic appointment process, produce faculty sections of the graduate and undergraduate catalogs, process graduate faculty status and processing visiting scholars visas. This system is used by departmental business managers, most of whom use it on a regular basis. It is accessed from the CP-ONE menu on the MVS system.

Student Aid Management (SAM)

Student Aid Management (SAM) is one of the applications that runs on the MVS (Production CICS) System. It is also used to track student loans, grants, and scholarships.

LSAM is used primarily by the Bursar's Office. To request access to this application, go to the UM Account Request Form.

Student Accounts Receivable (SAR)

Student Accounts Receivable (SAR) is one of the applications that runs on the MVS (Production CICS) System. SAR is used to track student accounts.

It is used primarily by the Bursar's Office. It is accessed from the College Park - Online Navigation Environment (CP-ONE) menu on the MVS system.

Student Bad Debt (SBD)

Student Bad Debt (SBD) is one of the applications that runs on the MVS (Production CICS) System. SBD is used to track unpaid student bills.

It is used primarily by the Bursar's Office. It is accessed from the College Park - Online Navigation environment (CP-ONE) menu on the MVS system.

Student Information System (SIS)

Student Information System (SIS) is one of the applications that runs on the  MVS (Production CICS) System. It is used to look up student records.

It is available to thousands of people on campus, however, many use the system sporadically. It is accessed from the College Park - Online Navigation Environment (CP-ONE) menu on the MVS system.
