If you receive a Blocked Website page when trying to visit a website, it is because our network has classified it as potentially harmful.

There are a few reasons why this might occur:
- The website is newly registered
- The website is on a free hosting service that is also often used for hosting malicious websites (common ones can be Weebly, Bluehost, github.io)
- The website uses shared hosting and is currently using an IP address that was previously used by a known malicious website
If you believe this website is incorrectly blocked, please send an email to DIT Security Operations Center at soc@umd.edu with the following information:
- URL of the website
- A brief description of what the website is about
- The category that best fits the nature of the website. Choose from the following list:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Business and Economy
- Health and Medicine
- Legal
- Music
- News
- Personal sites and blogs
- Recreation and hobbies
- Reference and Research
- Society
- OTHER
Based on the information you provide, we will submit the website for reclassification. If successful, the website will be unblocked.
Please note that classification in this manner is dynamic, and if the same problem occurs with the website in the future, it will be automatically blocked again. If this is a website you personally own, check with your hosting provider for solutions.
