"Stale Request" error in Safari after upgrading to iOS 18


Issue

I'm unable to access UMD services, like ELMS-Canvas, in Safari because I'm receiving a Stale Request error when authenticating with the Central Authentication Service (CAS). I recently upgraded to iOS 18.

Resolution

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Apps
  3. Scroll to Safari in the Apps screen and select it.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Advanced.
  5. Select Website Data. A list of websites will appear.
  6. Enter umd.edu in the Search field in the top right. The list will filter so only umd.edu related sites are displayed.
  7. Swipe to the left on umd.edu in the list of websites. An option to Delete will appear.
  8. Select Delete.

Please attempt to access the UMD service again.
