Connect to eduroam and Wired Network on Chromebook

Already on campus?

If you are already on campus, you will need access to the internet to connect to eduroam. You can run SecureW2 by connecting to the umd-guest wireless network from the list of detected wireless networks. You may also consider using your phone's cellular data to connect that device or set up a personal hotspot to connect on computers and tablets.

  1. In the drop-down, select Chrome Web Store, then click the red Install button.

  2. This will open Chrome Web Store for JoinNow MultiOS in a new tab. Click Add to Chrome.

  3. In the pop-up window, click Add Extension.

  4. Switch back to the tab you were previously on.
  5. Click Sign In.

  6. The UMD Central Authentication Service (CAS) login page will open. Enter your UMD Directory ID and Passphrase, then click Log In.
  7. Click Download.

  8. Once the page has finished downloading the file, switch to the newly opened tab.
  9. At the bottom, underneath Import ONC File, click Choose File.

  10. In your downloads folder, select the file titled SecureW2.onc.
  11. Click Open.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network on campus

Following completion of the SecureW2 joining process, you will be able to connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network on campus with your Chromebook. If you have issues with the SecureW2 process or connecting to the eduroam Wi-Fi network, contact the Service Desk for additional support.

  1. Click on the settings button on the bottom right corner of the taskbar.

  2. Click the arrow next to the Wi-Fi symbol.

  3. Select eduroam from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
