How can I stop Google Photos backups to save storage on the desktop app version of Google Drive?

NOTE: To follow the steps below, you must install the Google Drive for Desktop App.
- From your computer's toolbar, open the Google Drive for Desktop app.
- To access on Windows, click Show Hidden Icons on the bottom toolbar, then click Google Drive.
- To access on Mac, click Google Drive on the top toolbar.
- To access on Windows, click Show Hidden Icons on the bottom toolbar, then click Google Drive.
- Click the Settings gear icon to display a menu.
- Select Preferences from the menu. A Google Drive Preferences window will appear.
- Select Folders from your computer in the window sidebar.
- If you have any folders backing up to Google Photos, a Google Photos section will be present.
- If no folders appear, you will not be able to continue.
- Select the folder name in the Google Photos section.
- Uncheck the Back up to Google Photos checkbox.
- Click Done.
- A Stop backing up? confirmation may appear.
- Select Stop backing up to confirm.
- Select Save.
