Cellular wireless services and equipment are available from T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless to the UMD community. These services include university accounts as well as those for students, faculty, and staff. Services and equipment include cellular telephones, cases, batteries, power cords, chargers, text messaging, voice mail, e-mail, etc. 

How service is obtained

• Go to AT&T to make AT&T personal cellphone purchases. UMD faculty/staff benefit is 17% service discount off standard pricing. UMD student benefit is 10% service discount off standard pricing. Visit an AT&T corporate store and provide ID from UMD to verify eligibility.
• Go to T-Mobile/Sprint to make T-Mobile personal cellphone purchases.
• Go to Verizon to make Verizon Wireless cellphone purchases and find out current discount promotions.

Institutional cellular information

Orders for phones for university business use must be placed by designated Department Cellular Representatives (DCRs) who serve as the primary contact with the cellular vendors. Departmental Cellular Representatives (DCRs) are the only people authorized to purchase cellular phones and services for university use through the university Master Contracts managed by DIT. Please contact your DCR to place all requests for service. Contact the IT Service Desk at 301.405.1500 if you have any questions concerning cell phone ordering procedures.
