In order to uninstall GlobalProtect on a Mac, the GlobalProtect.pkg must be downloaded. If you have already downloaded it, go to step #6 to continue.
To re-install the GlobalProtect, see Connect to GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN).
- Go to access.umd.edu and login.
- Click GlobalProtect Agent at the top right of the portal.
- Click the Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent hyperlink.
- Run the downloaded file named GlobalProtect.pkg.
- You will need your computer’s administrator login information to install.
- From the GlobalProtect installer, click Continue.
- On the Destination Select screen, click Continue.
- On the Installation Type screen, select the Uninstall GlobalProtect package check box, and then click Continue.
- Click Install to confirm that you want to remove the GlobalProtect app. Confirm that the GlobalProtect app is no longer installed.
- A message pops up, confirming that the Uninstall GlobalProtect package was successfully installed. This confirmation indicates that the GlobalProtect app has been removed from your endpoint.
Complete removal of GlobalProtect remnants, cache, and settings
The following steps will completely delete all cache and settings of GlobalProtect, ensuring that no bad settings are reused on the computer.
- Click the Finder icon in your Dock.
- On the top menu bar, click Go.
- In the Go to Folder dialog, enter ~/Library/Caches/com.paloaltonetworks.globalProtect.client.
- Select all the files and folders inside this folder and move them to the trash.
- To permanently delete the folder, go to the Trash icon in your Dock and click Empty Trash.
