What is a TERP classroom?

TERP classrooms (short for Teach, Engage, Respond and Participate) are environments designed to encourage active learning and collaboration. They feature a mixture of tiered seating, mobile desks and tables, swiveling chairs, and shared media spaces. These classrooms can be found in the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center, H.J. Patterson Hall and Tawes Hall. The Division of Information Technology LTS team can assist faculty by acclimating them to the technologies and tools available in these rooms, including:

• Solstice wireless collaboration by Mersive.
• Audience response via Turning Technologies mobile response (clickers).
• Panopto lecture capture.
• Webex training center (for engaging remotely located guest instructors or student cohorts).
• Zoom (for engaging remotely located guest instructors or student cohorts).
• Document cameras.
• And more.

LTS partners with the Teaching and Learning Transformation Center (TLTC) to help faculty devise new ways of designing classroom content delivery and activities to increase student engagement and make full and innovative use of the collaborative spaces.
