The University of Maryland Cyberinfrastructure Center supports advanced research. With more than 9,000 square feet of leased space, the Rivertech Building near the university's M Square research park provides the needed space and power for Deepthought2, a central high-performance computing cluster to succeed the original Deepthought cluster M Square also houses a colocation facility for college and departmental research computing assets.
The Cyberinfrastructure Center's colocation facility was developed with the needs of campus researchers in mind, and it offers high-quality research computing space, complete with environmental and physical security controls, where colleges and departments can keep equipment. It provides 1,800 square feet of dedicated colocation space, and its electrical supply offers both UPS and generator service. There is also a staging area for preparing equipment to be installed in the colocation area. Construction is complete at the new Cyberinfrastructure Center, and it is now ready for occupancy.
The addition of the new Cyberinfrastructure Center enhances the research infrastructure of the university by providing a home for individual departments' research resources as well as the new Deepthought2 supercomputer.
