Who is eligible to upgrade to Windows 10?

Current faculty and staff are eligible to upgrade to Windows 10 on university-owned computers and devices.

How long will it take to upgrade my device?

The time it takes to upgrade to Windows 10 will depend on factors such as the age of your device and how it is configured. Most devices will take about an hour to upgrade. While older devices could take longer, some newer, high performance devices might upgrade faster.*

What edition of Windows will I get as part of the free upgrade?

Faculty and staff who download the Windows 10 app from TERPware will gain access to the Enterprise Institutional edition of Windows 10 that has been customized for use by the University of Maryland.

Will my existing programs, apps, and devices work with Windows 10?

Windows 10 is designed to be compatible with the majority of devices and apps that are currently available.

For details about your specific devices and apps, check the compatibility report that is a part of the Get Windows 10 app. To do this, open the Get Windows 10 app, select the menu in the upper left corner of the app, and then select Check your PC (or Your PC is good to go) to see any known compatibility issues and recommended resolutions.*

Will I still be able to log into my device with my University credentials after I upgrade to Windows 10?

Yes. Your university credentials should function normally after your upgrade to Windows 10. If you are running Windows on a Desktop computer with a physical network connection and have trouble connecting to the network or logging in to your computer, contact the Service Desk for assistance.

Can I revert my device to my old operating system?

Yes, there are a few different ways for you to go back from Windows 10 to a previous version of Windows:

Who do I contact if I encounter technical issues with Windows 10?
